The PRAXIS Core measures\u00a0general proficiency in reading, writing, and math. Passing scores on the tests are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reading: 156<\/li>\n<li>Writing: 162<\/li>\n<li>Math: 150<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are circumstances when a teacher candidate is not required to pass the Praxis Core. These include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>SAT: Students who scored at or above a 560 Reading and 540 Math (if taken 2\/28\/16 or earlier) or 610 Reading &amp; Writing or 30 Reading, and 570 Math (if taken on or after 3\/1\/16) may submit those scores.<\/li>\n<li>ACT: Students who scored at or above a 23 English and 23 Math may submit those scores.<\/li>\n<li>GRE: Students who scored at or above 155 Verbal and 156 Quantitative may submit those scores and 4.0 on the analytical writing section<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If students do not have a qualifying score on one of the exams above, they must pass the Praxis: Core Academic Skills for Educators test in Reading, Writing and Math.<\/p>\n<p>Students must request their scores from the College Board (SAT), ACT Inc. (ACT), or ETS (GRE). There may be fees associated with ordering and sending your scores.<\/p>\n<p>MCC advises that you take this test after you have prepared for it and completed 24 credits, including developmental course work if applicable. It is best for students to take the PRAXIS Core well before they start the application transfer process to a teacher preparation bachelor\u2019s program.<\/p>\n<p>Students can report their scores to the teacher preparation programs they are applying to. MCC would also like students to report their scores to our education program, using recipient code #2413.<\/p>\n<p>Please visit\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ets.org\/praxis\" target=\"_blank\">www.ets.org\/praxis<\/a>\u00a0for specific information about the test, preparing for the\u00a0test, test fees, test\u00a0locations and test dates.<\/p>\n<p>The PRAXIS II Subject Assessments are required for NJ State Teacher Certification. The\u00a0PRAXIS\u00a0Subject test will match the content area you decide to specialize and be certified\u00a0in. Students seeking NJ\u00a0State Teacher Certification also must complete a Speech and\u00a0Hearing Screening.
