ESL Pre-Academic Certificate<\/h1>\n

Pre-Academic Courses in Preparation for MCC Academic ESL<\/strong>
\nThe ESL Pre-Academic Certificate Program was developed to assist degree-seeking
\nstudents to transition into the MCC Academic ESL program. These courses will help you
\nprepare for the MCC Academic ESL program where you will develop the academic English
\nskills needed to be successful in all MCC college programs. After you successfully complete
\nall ESL Pre-Academic Certificate courses, you will be eligible to move on to the MCC
\nAcademic ESL program.<\/p>\n

Who Should Attend?<\/strong>
\nESL students who wish to pursue an MCC college degree but who need to strengthen their
\nESL skill level.<\/p>\n

Requirements to Attend the ESL Pre-Academic Certificate Courses:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Submit a college application with a $25 application fee.<\/li>\n
  2. Take an ESL Placement Test to determine your skill level. Call 732.906.2529 for further

  3. Meet with ESL Department Chairperson or Associate Chairperson.<\/li>\n
  4. Register with payment at Crabiel Hall, Room 110 or the Perth Amboy Center at 60

    Requirements to Earn a Middlesex County College ESL Pre-Academic Certificate<\/strong>
    \nTo earn an ESL Pre-Academic Certificate and to move on to the MCC Academic ESL
    \nprogram, you must successfully complete the ESL Pre-Academic certificate courses:
    \nPre-Academic ESL, Part 1 (35 hours)
    \nPre-Academic ESL, Part 2 (35 hours)
    \nPre-Academic ESL, Part 3 (35 hours)

    Is It Necessary to Enroll in the Certificate Program?<\/strong>
    \nYes, you must successfully complete the ESL Pre-Academic certificate courses, complying

    Pre-Academic ESL combines reading, speaking, writing and grammar skills. Work on your
    \nEnglish skills in order to participate in classroom discussions. Practice writing grammatically
    \ncorrect sentences that are descriptive and tell a story. You must complete Parts 1, 2, 3, and<\/strong>
    \n 4 in order to earn your certificate and to be considered for enrollment in academic ESL<\/strong>
