\nYou are entitled to a free evaluation of your language proficiency if you have 2 years or more of French, German, Italian or Spanish. Although this assessment is not compulsory, it is highly recommended to help select the language course that is best for you. You need to call the testing center (JLC, room 229) at 732 906-2508 to make your appointment before you register.<\/p>\n
\nIf the student has had a modern language in high school, he\/she may be placed at a more advanced level. For the purpose of determining what level will be the most appropriate, the student could skip one semester course for every year of senior high school language study completed with a grade of B or better. The courses should have been taken in the last three years. The chart at the end of this letter will help you find the right course for you.<\/p>\n
\nAll Modern Language faculty members can evaluate a student’s proficiency in any of the languages offered by the College. Should there be time constraints for registering, a student may be evaluated by any of the professors in the Department. You should call 732 906- 2529 to set up an appointment with a language instructor.<\/p>\nPre-Requisites:<\/h3>\n
\n122 Level – 121 or at least one year of high school language study with B or better.
\n221 Level – 122 or at least two years of high school language study with B or better.
\n222 Level – 221 or at least three years of high school language study with B or better.
\n210 Level – Native Speakers.
\n223 Level – Having completed the Intermediate Level (221- 222, 210), native speakers or four years of high school study with B or better, or faculty recommendation.
\n224 Level – Having completed the Intermediate Level (221- 222, 210), native speakers or four years of high school study with B or better, or faculty recommendation.
