Here at MCC we have over 5000 video clips available On Demand, contact <a href=\"mailto:BRichards@middlesexcc.edu\">Brian Richards<\/a> ( x 2618) for details of how to access this service.<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.open-video.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Open Video Project<\/a> has over 4000 items in it&#8217;s shared video collection available for download and use under the fair use copyright guidelines<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/video.google.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Google Video<\/a> is developing a video search service that will search the closed captioning text of TV programs and display short snippets of the text along with still images from the show. A side panel let&#8217;s you know when the show will air next.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/mediahistoryproject.org\/collections\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Media History Project<\/a> Online Access to the Histories of Cinema, Broadcasting &amp; Sound.<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.archive.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Internet Archive<\/a> aims to provide &#8220;Univeral Access to Human Knowledge&#8221; and isamassing a staggering array of resources including archives of the World Wide Web, Moving Images, Text, Audio and Software. The <a href=\"http:\/\/commons.wikimedia.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">WikiMedia Commons<\/a>is a database of more than 5 million media files, that anyone can contribute to.<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artstor.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">ARTstor<\/a> Digital Library of over 1,600,000 digital images and associated catalog data &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artstor.org\/what-is-artstor\/w-html\/interdisciplinary.shtml\" target=\"_blank\">see ArtStor subject guides<\/a> &#8211; to access this online database <a href=\"http:\/\/ezproxy.middlesexcc.edu:2048\/login?url=http:\/\/www.artstor.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">click here.<\/a> Recent additions include over 1000 QTVR 360 degree panoramas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Creating Digital Media<\/h2>\n<p>We can assist faculty in preparing and using Digital Media in teaching and learning. We have facilities for preparing and processing a wide range of digital media, including Digital Photography, Digital Video and Virtual Tours. The ID Studio is equipped with software such as Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro and iMovie for Non-Linear Digital Editing as well as compression software which enables the production of a variety of Digital Media including Streaming Media, VR movies, DVDs and CD-ROMs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jiscdigitalmedia.ac.uk\/crossmedia\/advice\/overview-of-materials-for-using-digital-media-in-teaching-and-research\/\" target=\"_blank\">JISC Digital Media Overiew<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jiscdigitalmedia.ac.uk\/advice\/\" target=\"_blank\">Advice on Digital Media<\/a> &#8211; cover all aspects of using and creating digital media resources for teaching and learning. They also run an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jiscdigitalmedia.ac.uk\/surgery\/\" target=\"_blank\">Online Surgery<\/a>&#8211; a series of webinars on aspects for working with Digital Media and offer online infokits on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jiscdigitalmedia.ac.uk\/infokit\/audiovisual-digitisation\/audiovisual-digitisation-home\" target=\"_blank\">High Level Digitisation for Audiovisual Resources<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jiscdigitalmedia.ac.uk\/infokit\/3d\/3d-home\" target=\"_blank\">Digital 3D Content<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.freetech4teachers.com\/2010\/05\/free-guide-making-videos-on-web.html\" target=\"_blank\">A Free Guide to Making Video on the Web<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.freetech4teachers.com\/2010\/12\/12-ways-to-create-videos-without-camera.html\" target=\"_blank\">12-ways-to-create-videos-without-camera<\/a> from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.freetech4teachers.com\/2010\/05\/free-guide-making-videos-on-web.html\" target=\"_blank\">Technology for Teachers<\/a>an EduBlog award winning blog.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.shortcourses.com\/\">Digital Photography<\/a> For free introductory courses on Digital Photography and Digital Cameras try <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shortcourses.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.shortcourses.com\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>You can create your own Digital Slide Shows with<a href=\"http:\/\/www.picasa.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Picasa 3 software<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/windowsxp\/using\/digitalphotography\/photostory\/default.mspx\" target=\"_blank\">PhotoStory for Windows<\/a>. These programs are free and great tools for creating slide-shows and presentations, while Picasa is also good for managing and organizing your collection of digital images and small movie files.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/historymatters.gmu.edu\/mse\/Photos\/\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Making Sense of Documentary Photography,&#8221;<\/a> by James Curtis, from <em>History Matters: The U.S. Survey Course on the Web<\/em>, 2003.This also includes an extensive resource list of<a href=\"http:\/\/historymatters.gmu.edu\/mse\/photos\/online.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Documentary Photography Online<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.donationcoder.com\/Reviews\/Archive\/ScreenCasting\/\" target=\"_blank\">Screen Casting software<\/a> allows you to create tutorials with audio narration that capture all the activity on the screen. This is ideal for demonstrating how to use a particular feature or tool in a software package.<\/p>\n<p>An <a href=\"http:\/\/www.techsmith.com\/community\/education\/inspired\/Screencast_Intro\/\" target=\"_blank\">Introduction to Screen Capture<\/a> and Screen Casting in Education and how to download and use the free JING software.<\/p>\n<p>You can create online presentations based on PowerPoint slides with added narration, multimedia and interactive features using the online service called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brainshark.com\/mybrainshark\" target=\"_blank\">MyBrainshark<\/a>. The FREE version includes unlimited storage and viewing, includes the ability to add narration, basic polling and slides play\/selection and has easy to use slide by slide editing tools.
