I think students will benefit and really enjoy the activities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Black History Month begins Monday, February 8 with a lecture by Joshua Fredenburg, a nationally recognized speaker, author, and\u00a0consultant who provides expert advice on leadership, diversity, and healthy relationships in a practical, engaging, inspiring, and\u00a0dynamic manner. He has reached thousands of emerging and seasoned leaders in 42 different states as a keynote speaker, workshop\u00a0presenter and leadership trainer.<\/p>\n<p>He is also the author of \u201cA Call to Action; 14 Highly Effective Leadership Principles for Leaders of Millennials,\u201d \u201cAre You the World\u2019s\u00a0Next Top Leader?\u201d and \u201c50 Questions Before You Say I Do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2010, Mr. Fredenburg created the Circle of Change Leadership Conference, an award-winning annual leadership development\u00a0conference for college students that provides emerging and seasoned leaders with the skills, resources and opportunity to learn. The\u00a0program will be in the Corral Restaurant in the College Center at\u00a011 a.m..<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, February 18, several student organizations, along with the Student Activities Office, will sponsor a Black History Month\u00a0Expo featuring presentations and performances by student groups. These include the Step Team, The MCC Gospel Choir, and others.\u00a0The event, at 2 p.m. in the Main Lounge of the College Center, will highlight and celebrate the contributions of African Americans in\u00a0areas such as politics, music and theatre. It will also educate the MCC community on historical figures and moments in African\u00a0American history.<\/p>\n<p>Christopher Grant will speak on Monday, February 29 at 11 a.m. in the College Center Corral. Mr. Grant appeared on USA Network\u2019s\u00a0show \u201cSummer Camp,\u201d a reality-based elimination show. He is dedicated to helping people overcome everyday challenges through\u00a0fitness and humor. His presentation is an interactive and laugh-out-loud funny presentation on setting goals, following dreams and\u00a0diversity in entertainment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is absolutely nothing in this world that you cannot do,\u201d he said. \u201cThe only person holding you back is you. Get out of your own\u00a0way!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Finally, on Monday, March 21, Kimberly Dark will speak on Gender, Race and Money at 11 a.m. in the College Center Corral. She is a\u00a0writer, storyteller and speaker who will teach participants about trends \u2013 both historical and current day \u2013 in the distribution of wealth in\u00a0America and how those trends affect all Americans.
