David Edwards has been named dean of arts and sciences at the College. He started August 30.<\/p>\n
“In the very short time I have been here, I’ve been impressed with the institutional emphasis on improving student success while maintaining a commitment to open access,” he said. “That is a challenge, but it is one we can meet. There are many committed and creative people at Middlesex involved in innovative work.”<\/p>\n
Formerly dean of instruction at Hudson County Community College, Mr. Edwards was responsible for the Departments of Humanities and Social Sciences; Health Science and Technology; and English as a Second Language\/Bilingual and Developmental Education. Before that, he was the associate dean of English and humanities at Hudson.<\/p>\n
“He brings extensive experience in teaching, higher education administration, curriculum design, grants development, and outcomes assessment,” said Karen Hays, vice president for academic and student affairs at Middlesex. “He also has experience in developing articulation and affiliation agreements, and he founded the Center for Distance Education while at Hudson. I am very pleased he has joined MCC.”<\/p>\n
Mr. Edwards’ teaching experience includes courses in English composition, modern American literature, Spanish literature in translation, and business and technical writing.<\/p>\n
He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Louisiana State University and a Master of Arts in Foreign Language Education. He is currently working toward a Doctor of Education degree at Rowan University.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
