Middlesex County College has signed an articulation agreement with St. Peter’s College in Jersey City that links the two schools’ Biotechnology programs. Middlesex students who graduate with a grade point average of 2.75 or better in Biotechnology will be guaranteed admission into the St. Peter’s Bachelor of Science Biotechnology program.<\/p>\n
“We’re very pleased to see expanding options for our students at private institutions such as St. Peter’s,” said Dr. Joann La Perla-Morales, president of Middlesex. “Biotechnology is a field that is important to our nation’s future. It is also one with expanding job opportunities.”<\/p>\n
Dr. Karen Hays, vice president for academic and student affairs, said this program is especially important in this region.<\/p>\n
“The Central New Jersey area is a world leader in biotechnology and home to one of the greatest concentrations of biotechnology industries in the world,” she said. “Pharmaceutical companies need highly qualified employees, so it is important for New Jersey to develop a talented biotech workforce.”<\/p>\n
The Middlesex program, which began this January, has a similar transfer agreement with Rutgers University.<\/p>\n
Dr. Uma Narayanan, coordinator of the Middlesex Biotechnology program, said the College is hoping to develop agreements with other colleges and universities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
