New Substation: More Reliable and Cheaper Power<\/a>
\nWhile construction on Crabiel Hall is getting the most attention, a new electrical substation being built near the Gateway Building will have a profound and positive effect on the College.<\/p>\n

Democracy House Wins National Award<\/a>
\nDemocracy House, an organization of students at Middlesex County College that performs thousands of hours of community service each year, was named to the 2009 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. The award was presented by the Corporation for National and Community Service.<\/p>\n

Vassiliadis Honored as Woman of the Year by Greek Cypriot Group<\/a>
\nClairie Vassiliadis, assistant professor of mathematics at Middlesex County College, was named Woman of the Year by the Pancyprian Association, a group that promotes Greek Cypriot language and culture. Born and raised in Cyprus, Professor Vassiliadis immigrated to the United States in 1982 to further her education, earning a bachelor’s degree in computer science and a master’s degree in applied mathematics from NJIT, and a master’s in educational technology from Ramapo College.<\/p>\n

MCC Signs Biotech Transfer Agreement with St. Peter’s<\/a>
\nMiddlesex County College has signed an articulation agreement with St. Peter’s College in Jersey City that links the two schools’ Biotechnology programs. Middlesex students who graduate with a grade point average of 2.75 or better in Biotechnology will be guaranteed admission into the St. Peter’s Bachelor of Science Biotechnology program.<\/p>\n

Financial Aid System at College Transitions to Direct Lending<\/a>
\nMiddlesex County College will be transitioning from the Federal Family Educational Loan Program (FFELP) to Federal Direct Lending (DL) beginning in the fall of 2010.<\/p>\n

Free Oral Cancer Screening for Adults to be Held at College<\/a>
\nMiddlesex County College will host an oral cancer screening for adults on Tuesday, April 20 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in L’Hommedieu Hall on the Edison campus. The event is free and open to the public; preregistration is not necessary.
