An incredible array of eclectic programming is being offered at the College as part of this year’s Liberal Arts Festival, “The Power to Be!” This annual celebration of the liberal arts includes lectures, poetry, dance, exhibitions, plays, and much, much more. The program runs from April 3 through May 1 and includes 41 activities. Most are free and all are open to the public.<\/p>\n
“This is our opportunity to showcase the liberal arts faculty, staff and students and provide the College community \u2014 and the public \u2014 with an interesting array of experiences,” said Susan Altman, associate professor of visual, performing and media arts and chair of the Liberal Arts Festival Committee. “I think everyone will find it very worthwhile. The events are thought-provoking, culturally enriching, and a lot of fun.”<\/p>\n
The highlight of the program is the keynote address by Dr. Michael Kimmel, speaking on “Mars and Venus \u2014 or Planet Earth: Men and Women in a New Millennium” on Monday, April 20 at 11 a.m. in the Performing Arts Center. Other activities include “The Poets of Middlesex,” “Where Did All the Money Go?” \u2013 a discussion on the economy, a performance of the College dance ensemble, a festival of student written plays and films, and a production of “Into the Woods.”<\/p>\n
