Andrea Craparotta, acting captain with the Middlesex County Prosecutor\u2019s Office, has been appointed interim director of the Middlesex County College Police Department. The appointment is under a shared services program with the Prosecutor\u2019s Office. She will be paid by the Prosecutor\u2019s Office and maintains her rank but will work at the College full time.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe MCC Police Department is very fortunate to be able to partner with the Prosecutor\u2019s Office to have someone with Andrea\u2019s experience lead our department and provide a cost savings to the College at the same time,\u201d said Donald R. Drost Jr., executive director of facilities management, who oversees the department.<\/p>\n
Ms. Craparotta has 25 years of experience in law enforcement, joining the Middlesex Prosecutor\u2019s Office in 1990 after two years in Ocean County. She has experience in investigating homicides, sex crimes, child abuse, bias crimes, narcotics, as well as working with juvenile and training units. She has also served as a training coordinator and administered areas such as supervision of investigations, personnel scheduling, training oversight and budget review.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m enjoying my first month at MCC,\u201d she said. \u201cThe challenge is always to make sure we maintain a safe and secure campus without disturbing the academic environment. I think we\u2019re up to the challenge. This is a strong department with good people.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms. Craparotta holds a master\u2019s degree in education from Seton Hall University and graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA. She has served as an adjunct faculty member at Rutgers University and Brookdale Community College. She is a certified instructor with the Police Training Commission and has taught various aspects of law enforcement to audiences throughout the tri state area.<\/p>\n
Ms. Craparotta is a past president of the New Jersey Narcotic Enforcement Officers Association and is on the Executive Board of Directors of New Jersey Women in Law Enforcement.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
