Thank you for following the tutoring guidelines below.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Expectations for Tutors:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Tutors guide students toward a better\u00a0<\/strong><strong>understanding of the writing process.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Tutors are not editors: they will not grade, correct or re-do a student\u2019s work; however,\u00a0<strong>they will provide guidance, explain\u00a0<\/strong><strong>principles, and help each student\u00a0<\/strong><strong>communicate more effectively through the\u00a0<\/strong><strong>written word.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Tutors cannot speak for students&#8217; instructors.<\/strong> Students are encouraged to communicate with their instructors regarding coursework.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tutors can assist students with the writing process of any paper<\/strong> they are working on, even in classes outside of the English Dept.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Expectations for Students:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Be as specific as possible in identifying your goals<\/strong> to the tutor in order to plan the<br \/>\nsession.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Please attend tutoring early and often.<\/strong> There is not always time to cover an entire paper in a single session, so students should plan visits well in advance of deadlines.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bring all course materials<\/strong>, including assignment guidelines and textbooks.<\/li>\n<li>For courses outside of the English Department, you may want to first meet with a subject-specific tutor in the Learning Center about the paper&#8217;s content if you have questions unrelated to the writing process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>In-Person and Online Tutoring is Available<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tutoring by Appointment (recommended):<\/strong><br \/>\nAccess our website <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/middlesexcc.mywconline.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/middlesexcc.mywconline.com<\/a> <\/strong>with your smartphone, tablet, or<br \/>\ncomputer to make an appointment to work with a tutor for approximately 20 minutes. Choose the \u201cNew Brunswick Center &amp; Online Tutoring Schedule.\u201d Appointments must be scheduled at least a day in advance, up to two weeks in advance. All time slots are available for in-person tutoring, and some allow you to choose the option of a live, online tutoring session from any computer with an internet connection, which will feature a collaborative whiteboard, text, video and audio chat, and drawing tools. You may lose your appointment if you arrive more than five minutes late. If you miss three appointments, you will only be able to come for walk-in sessions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Walk-in Tutoring:<\/strong> Students who drop in to the center will be handled on a first-come, first-<br \/>\nserved basis. Appointments are given priority, and a tutor may not be available if it is busy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tutoring Walk-in Hours at New Brunswick Center:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wednesdays: 2pm \u2013 7pm<\/li>\n<li>Thursdays: 11am-7pm<\/li>\n<li>Fridays: 11am-3pm<\/li>\n<li>Saturdays: 9am-1pm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Small Group Tutoring:<\/strong> We are open to accommodating small groups of students from the same class who have questions regarding the same assignment if possible.
