Information Session Planned for Computer Forensics and Cybersecurity June 23

A free information session designed to introduce the public to careers in computer forensics and cybersecurity will be held at Middlesex County College on Tuesday, June 23. The program will be held in the Amboy Room in Crabiel Hall and will run from 6:30-8 p.m.

“This is great first step for someone interested in beginning a career in the cybersecurity field,” said Dr. Lynn Lederer, director of Professional and Community Programs at the College. “The skills in demand include a broad understanding of the security field, communication skills, technical knowledge and a solid understanding of the latest security threats. This information session will acquaint potential students with the field: the certifications required, the jobs available, and what Middlesex has in this area.”

Classes offered in the fall include Computer Forensics Investigations, Computer and Network Security, and Ethical Hacking.

“We recognize the need for information security specialists in the corporate and law enforcement environments,” said Nancy White, president of Digital Consulting Associates, who will be coordinating the Forensic Investigations class. “Cloud computing, social media, wireless and smart technologies demand highly adaptable, skilled individuals who must work smarter than ever to manage risks to electronic information.”
