12 Ophelias, a contemporary look at Shakespeare’s Ophelia, will be performed at Middlesex County College November 20-22 at 8 p.m. and November 23 at 2 p.m. It is written by Caridad Svich.
“MCC’s Production is a modern-day blend of the mythic, tragic and immediate with its elaborate set design filled with a playground-like landscape of rocks to be climbed along with folk-songs and characters entwined in love while swinging from the ceiling,” said director Anna Sycamore DeMers, a new faculty member at the College. “This production aims to shake the foundation of Ophelia as a tragic character and resurrect her as a woman with strength, love and forgiveness in her heart. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience theatre designed to engage the audience and immerse them into this wonderful world.”
Tickets are $10 for the general public and students are free. It will be held in the Performing Arts Center on the Edison campus. The cast includes:
