Professor Stickler came to Middlesex County College in 2002 after a 30+ year career in engineering.
As a practicing engineer, Professor Stickler worked in a number of fields. At GE, he analyzed vibrations and thermal stresses in steam turbines. Early in his career he worked for an aerospace company analyzing the motion of earth orbiting satellites and the control systems that keep them correctly oriented in space. At John Deere, he held several positions in the engine engineering department.
Professor Stickler moved to NJ in 1977 to work for Bell Telephone Laboratories in Holmdel, where he worked until “retirement” in 2001. At Bell Labs his assignments included traditional electronics packaging, manufacturing support, managing a team of engineers responsible for supporting products in the field and an engineering group responsible for developing voice messaging products.
Professor Stickler teaches traditional mechanical engineering courses (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Statics, Dynamics and Fluid Mechanics) along with MCT101, Introduction to Technology, and occasionally other courses. He is the curriculum coordinator for the Engineering Science program.
Professor Stickler earned a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and MS and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University. His technical interests include statics, dynamics and the use of software to solve engineering problems.
